Canada in Trump's crosshairs

Time to clue the fuck in, Canada. Trump wants Canada to hit military spending equivalent to 5% of GDP. This will only happen through unprecedented shock therapy austerity cuts and privatization. This is a weapon to destroy the Canadian economy to better prepare us for greater integration into the Empire.

Look at what they're doing to their biggest European rival, Germany. The country is bring dismantled, the elites are all for war against Russia and backing Israel, and we are seeing the return of Eurofascists with the AfD's recent breakthroughs in areas ravaged by deindustrialization, major job losses and rising costs of living.

The American commitment to permanent war against Russia, genocide and new frontier wars through the Middle East and into the Horn of Africa are not just weapons against states that refuse to give up their sovereignty, but also a weapon to bolster American control over its imperialist bloc. Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, New Zealand and NATO Europe are all facing similar pressures with the collusion of their respective ruling classes.

The 51st State talk from Trump isn't bluster. We are moving into Anschluss territory as Canadian elites show zero sign of leading in a different direction. Liberals have already committed to 2% by end of decade having spent last decade doubling military budget. The corporate elites of the Business Council of Canada (formerly the BCNI that rammed through the corporate trade deal in 88) want 3% and want a 1995-style shock therapy budget to finance it. Canadian elites and all three major parties of - Liberals, Cons, NDP - have called for greater defence spending in response to Trump's election.

Between the Freedom Convoy, January 6, the Maidan Revolution and other US-sponsored "colour revolutions" across Eastern Europe and the Caucuses,, and the South Korean coup attempt, there have already been plenty of signs of what the American and Canadian ruling class, and their military, police and paramilitary wings have in store.

The only weapon against this is going to be mass action and mass politics by a new labour left project. It is an incredibly tall order. Busting up the new regime of strikebreaking established by the Liberals would be a good first start. This means coordination, planning, training and education across unions. What are the starting points?
