Ontario NDP vote collapses as Ford's support softens
Here is last night's election results in historical context since the 1985 defeat of 42 years of PC rule. To give an idea of how few people are voting, Ontario's population grew from 9.3 million to 15 million between 1985 and 2022. It has grown by nearly 4 million people since the millenium.

A comment on measuring the power of fascist forces
In political debates around the influence and strength of fascism in Ukraine, there has been a very dangerous analysis used here to dismiss their power and influence. This analysis is based on reading the electoral results of a single party - Svoboda's two percent in the parliamentary vote in 2019. This is a central argument made in Doug Saunders' Globe & Mail column on March 26 2022, entitled "Ukrainian 'Nazis' are real - but they're not worth our attention".

Canadian labour, EI and paid sick days during the pandemic
The advent of CERB and the hype surrounding the prospect of a Basic Income was never about replacing EI. CERB and its successor, CRB, was setup as distinct from EI not because of some overwhelming technical-bureaucratic problem, but because they were temporary measures designed to keep our shit-awful EI system untouched and intact once the temporary measures were gone and the height of the pandemic crash of spring 2020 was over.
